21 March '06: Work area fenced off to create a green zone opposite platform 1, on what was previously the North Loop Siding. New overhead electrification stanchions are in the process of being erected, while equipment and materials is stored in front of the filled-in platforms 2/3.

29 March '06: The renewed track through platforms 1/19 has now had a new scissor crossover installed, which will connect to the track serving the new platform. This was installed over the weekend of 25/26 March, having been delivered by 66135 and 66140 on BPA 'Boplate' wagons. The crossover is in a different position to the former pointwork, requiring the protecting signals to be moved.

29 March '06: The new platform's brick retaining wall is quickly going up on the concrete base, seen in one of the 05 March pics. New rail is lying ready for use behind the protecting blue fence.

25 May '06: Signal E444 has been moved and replaced with a new Dorman LED 4-aspect searchlight signal, the first of its kind in Waverley, and the first 4-aspect searchlight signal in Scotland for nearly 20 years.

25 May '06: Another new signal erected on platform 1 to replace E457. This is also a 4-aspect LED searchlight signal, and will protect the new scissor crossing.

25 May '06: Plasser & Theurer 08-16/4x4C-RT switch & crossing tamper DR73913 in Amec Orange livery, usually operating in the SE of England, was transported by road for work on the new platform line. It arrived at Rutherglen on Tuesday 23 May, travelling to Edinburgh by rail the next day, and seen working on the Thursday. This is the first rail vehicle to use the new track.
